Negotiating Arctic futures through shifting borders, data, and interaction

AALU Exhibition is a research-driven installation investigating the shifting territorial boundaries of the Arctic under the pressure of climate change and resource extraction. The project critically examines the Arctic as a site of contemporary colonization—where melting ice opens access to natural resources while intensifying geopolitical and cultural conflicts.
Focusing on the Troms og Finnmark region, the project explores how new land uses, infrastructures, and seasonal environmental changes redefine borders that were once considered stable. These transformations directly impact Indigenous Sámi communities, whose relationship to land, animals, and migration routes is deeply intertwined with the Arctic landscape.
