
A living atmospheric chamber where invisible microbial motion becomes spatial vibration
Air Pavilion is an environmental installation that reveals the hidden dynamics of the air microbiome. Microbes constantly move through space, shaping ecosystems and influencing human health, yet their presence remains imperceptible. The pavilion transforms this invisible activity into a sensory experience, allowing visitors to observe how tiny organisms generate subtle shifts in water, light, and atmosphere.
The structure acts as a responsive interface between human and non‑human agents. As temperature, humidity, and human presence fluctuate, the pavilion’s internal environment changes—light refracts differently, water surfaces ripple, and the spatial ambience evolves. These micro‑vibrations make the space feel alive, emphasizing the coexistence and mutual influence of all bodies circulating within it.
Architecturally, Air Pavilion is a lightweight dome situated in an open landscape. Its circular geometry creates a calm, centered field where environmental forces can be perceived with heightened clarity. The design merges computational logic with ecological sensitivity, continuing Khadziakova’s research into interspecies collaboration and atmospheric architecture. The pavilion becomes a place of observation, reflection, and attunement to the unseen processes that sustain life.
