Fractalism, San Francisco — computational consultancy and delivery support

14.01.26, 22:00

One of my favourite kinds of projects is when a poetic idea needs real engineering discipline to become buildable. Fractalism in San Francisco is exactly that: a sculptural wave that wraps a building corner, made from thousands of aluminium petals that shift with light and movement as you pass by.

On this project, I supported the team with computational consultancy, drawing production, and project management - the “unseen” work that keeps a complex geometry from falling apart once it meets fabrication reality. My focus was on translating the visual rhythm into a system by managing clear parameters, repeatable logic, coordinated documentation, and a workflow that different parties could actually build from. What I’m proud of here is the balance: the sculpture keeps its softness and surprise, but it’s grounded in real constraints and real coordination.

Credits on the project include IQHQ (client), Ann Berchtold / MIG (art consultant), RBHU (engineering), UAP (fabrication), Pacific Erectors (installation), and Bread Truck Films (photo/video).
